Spring Wine Drink Recipes

Spring is in the air - and our in our cups! There's nothing quite like kicking back on the patio during a wonderful spring day with your favorite wine in your hand. Of course, if your favorite Lake of the Ozarks wine is turned into a spring concoction - that's even better! Here are a few delicious sounding recipes that you can use this season to enjoy the warming temps, the delicious spring breeze, and of course, that incredible wine from Seven Springs Winery.

Sparkling Red Wine Sangria

This beverage could be easily used for Spring or Summer - but it's spring now, and we want wine! Check out this easy recipe from Real House Moms and see for yourself how wonderful it is.

Ingredients
1 bottle of Seven Spring's Spring Red
1 apple cored and sliced
1 orange sliced and quartered
1/4 cup orange liqueur
1/4 cup apple juice
sparkling water sparkling apple juice, or prosecco

Instructions

1. In a glass container, combine wine, fruit, liqueur, and apple juice. Refrigerate a minimum of 1 hour, but at least 4 hours is recommended.
2. To serve, pour sangria and a scoop of fruit into an ice-filled glass. Top with sparkling water, sparkling apple juice, or prosecco, depending on preference.

Rosemary Infused Grapefruit Mimosa

Do you want to know what our favorite thing about mimosas is? They are acceptable to start in the MORNING! Try this Sweet and savory from Beautiful Eats & Things, and don't forget to tell us what you think!

Ingredients4 ¼ cups Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice chilled
1 sprig rosemary and additional for decor
1 bottle Muscato Sparkling
Optional: grenadine

Instructions

1. In a large pitcher, add rosemary and ¼ cup juice. Muddle rosemary into juice and let sit for about 5 minutes. Be careful not to break leaves off stem.
2. Add the rest of the juice and champagne. Stir to make sure that all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
3. Optional: For additional sweetness add 1 tsp of grenadine to the champagne glass before pouring.
4. Garnish with rosemary and Enjoy!

Call Me A Cab Vodka Lemonade Wine Cocktail

This drink isn't only tasty, but it's beautiful! It will look great at your next spring soiree, or for a quiet dinner at home. Check out this recipe from Having Fun Saving!

IngredientsIce
6 oz lemonade
1 oz vodka
2-3 oz Seven Spring's Seven's Red Heaven

Instructions

1. Place the ice in your desired cup
2. Pour in the vodka
3. Pour in the lemonade
4. Stir gently
5. Slowly pour on the Cabernet Sauvignon
6. Enjoy!

Blueberry Lavender Sangria

The delicate floral flavors make this ideal for a light spring picnic. It's elegant to look at, but even EASIER to whip up! Try out this recipe from Lively Table and see for yourself.

Ingredients For the lavender simple syrup:
1/2 cup lavender sugar*
1 cup water
1/2 tsp lavender extract

For the sangria:
Ice
1 tbsp lavender simple syrup
1-2 tbsp fresh blueberries
4 oz Seven Spring's Spring Fling

Instructions

1. To make the lavender simple syrup: In a small saucepan, combine lavender sugar and water. Bring to a simmer, stirring to dissolve sugar. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature. Stir in lavender extract and strain into a glass jar. Store in the refrigerator. 
2. To make sangria, fill a glass with ice. Add lavender simple syrup, blueberries, and prosecco. Stir gently and enjoy! 
3. To make a pitcher: Add a pint of blueberries and 1/3- 1/2 cup simple syrup to a pitcher. Add one 750 ml bottle or prosecco. Stir and serve over ice. 

Notes
*I make lavender sugar by mixing a couple tablespoons of food grade dried lavender buds with about 1 cup of sugar in a jar, and letting it sit at least overnight.

Getting Wicked With Wine

It's going to be a wicked time at the winery when you come out for the Wicked Wine Run! You can race through the vineyards and trails of the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks in Linn Creek, MO. Our newly designed trails are through fields and woodland hills. They provide both a challenging and surreal adventure in the heart of Missouri for any runner or wino. Of course, the best is yet to come when you get to enjoy the WICKED POST RACE PARTY! Keep reading to learn more about this incredible Lake of the Ozarks event and how you can participate.

The Race Details

Race through the vineyards and trails of the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks in Linn Creek, MO. The newly designed trials are through fields and woodland hills providing a challenging and remarkably surreal adventure in the heart of Missouri. Good stable trail running shoes are a standard as the course can be a challenging in some areas.The start time for the 5K Wicked Run begins at 5:00 pm and the 1K Wicked Tasting Walk begins at 6:30 pm. 5K runners must complete the course in 1 hour. Runners who participate in BOTH the 5K Fun Run and the 1K Walk must make the start time of the 1K. No exceptions. Waves of runners will be released on the course with 5-minute intervals in between waves. Runners and ALL attendees must be 21 or older to participate.

It’s time to watch the night sky light up as we enjoy the fireworks spectacular at Seven Springs Winery on Saturday, July 22nd. It’s going to be a grand affair with food, live music, and an incredible view. Keep reading to learn about this fun event that we host every year and why you should come early and stay late.

We have many varieties of wine at our Lake of the Ozarks winery and we would love to pop the cork and share them with you. From red to white, the varieties are perfect for your taste preferences - some come out and try some! In fact, we have 13 varieties, from red to white, dry to sweet, and even some sparkling varieties. If you don't know where to start you can try our wines! We offer several options for wine tasting depending on how many you would like ot try. Want to try all of them? We can do that too!

Live Music

We will have our incredible live music out at the winery for you on Saturday, July 22nd. We love having Sax on the Beach out here, and apparently you do too! They are a regular here at our Lake of the Ozarks winery, but we are especially glad to have them for our Fireworks Spectacular! They'll be playing from 2 PM - 6 PM, and then start back up around 7 PM until the fireworks show! If you've never been apart of the Sax on the Beach crowd, you'll be in for a real treat. They are famous performers at the Lake of the Ozarks and beyond - we hope you enjoy them!

The Wicked Wine Run at the Lake of the Ozarks!

Whether you're a runner, or you're only a runner when there is wine at the finish line - it's time to suit up for the Wicked Wine Run! This is the second time we've held this event at Seven Springs Winery, and it is a BLAST. Last year we had an amazing turnout, and we're looking forward to even more this year. Not only will it be a fun evening of running and walking, but there is a LIVE concert back at the best winery at the Lake of the Ozarks along with many contests to win, and of course, WINE! Here are some details if you are registered for this great event.

PRE-RACE PACKET PICK UP - Tan Tar A Resort will be hosting pre-race packet pick up on Friday, May 12th, 2017 11 am to 8 pm at 494 Tan Tar A Drive, Osage Beach, MO 65065. To pick up your packet bring a printed or digital copy of your confirmation email with the QR code on it. If you can't make it, you can send a friend -- just make sure you signed your online waiver (you signed this waiver when you Registered) give him/her a copy of your ID and your confirmation email.

Can't find your confirmation email? Simply search your inbox for "Registration confirmation for Wicked Wine Run". Additional race swag, merchandise, and event parking passes (General $10) are conveniently available during packet pick up.

Race day packet pick up is available, but let's face it - waiting in line for ages just plain sucks when all you want to do is run and get wicked, and have wine *wink.*

Wine Can Improve Your ...

Brain

Studies have been done to show that people who drink a glass of wine a day scored better on memory quizzes than individuals who did not. Wine has been shown to reduce blood clots as well as reduce blood vessel inflammation. This, in turn, can improve cognitive decline and heart disease!

Weight

Studies have shown that people who drink a glass of wine per day are also more likely to have smaller waists and less body fat! If that isn't a reason to drink more wine then we don't know what is! There are also studies that say your body is still burning calories for even up to ninety minutes after you drink a glass of wine.

Bones

They may say you should drink a glass of milk every day for your bones, but what they aren't telling you, is that wine can also help your bones. In fact, individuals who drink wine are known to have a higher bone mass than those who abstain.

Immune System

As we're getting ready for the fall and winter season, we're sure you would love to find an easy way to boost your immune system. There was a study done in Britain that showed an 11% decrease in susceptibility to infection when they drank a glass of wine a day.

Blood Sugar

The reasons are unclear, but there are examples that show drinking wine can help improve your insulin resistance - especially in diabetic patients. Studies also show that women who drink one or two glasses of wine are 40% less likely to develop type 2 diabetes.

While Seven Springs Winery is typically known for its Missouri Wine, we also serve a small menu of microbrews for those with an alternative pallet. A Toast to Seven Years for Seven Springs Winery!

Seven years ago, Seven Springs Winery opened it's doors for the first time. We've had a wonderful seven years and we look forward to providing the best wine at the Lake of the Ozarks for many years to come! With great customers like you, we know the next seven will be just as amazing! Since there is nothing better than toasting to the best Lake of the Ozark's winery,  here are a few ideas for writing a fabulous toast for any event you may be toasting to!

1. Only Tell 1-2 Stories

Everyone loves a good story! Everyone loves a second good story, but after two you'll start to lose interest. Keep your stories down to one or two of the really great, extremely funny ones!

2. Don't Make it About You

When you're making a toast, you are generally congratulating a momentous occasion in someone else's life. Keep all of the focus on them, praise their wonderful accomplishment, and keep yourself out of it.

3. Keep it Short

I'm sure we've all sat through the toasts that just keep going. They were sweet to start with, and then just when you think they're finished, there is still more! Include the important information, the funny stories, the relationship between you and the person you're toasting, include your final statement, smile, and take a bow.

4. Write, Rehearse, and Rehearse Again

After you have composed the perfect toast, read it in front of the mirror, and in front of someone else! You'll become more comfortable with what you're reading when you've said it out loud to yourself. Reading it in front of another person also helps get the nerves out, but can also help if the wording sounds a bit off.

Taste of France at the Silver Cup Chefs Challenge

The first event of the 6th Annual Silver Cup Chefs Challenge is this Saturday, January 31! The theme for the event is a Taste of France.  Join us for a delicious meal and friendly competition. Four local restaurants will come together at our Lake of the Ozarks winery to compete for BEST Chef at the Lake!

Silver Cup Chefs Challenge Contestants

The Annual Silver Cup Chefs Challenge is back for another great year in 2015! Join us at Seven Springs Winery to watch local restaurants compete for the title of BEST Chef at the Lake. Events are scheduled for January 31, February 7, February 28 and Finals on March 14 at our Lake of the Ozarks winery. Doors open at 11 am and the first tastings will begin at 2pm. Judging will be at 4pm.

Restaurant Competitors 

January 31 - France 

Horseshoe Bend Brewing Company 

Horseshoe Bend Brewing Company, located in the Village of Four Seasons, MO welcomes you to stop by and try the best in craft brewed beer. They are open Wednesday-Thursday 2:00-8:00pm, Friday 2:00-9:00pm, Saturday 12:00-9:00pm, and Sunday 3:00pm-8:00pm. Stop by to sample some beers, have a pizza, play some games, watch TV and have a great time!

Sharkbite Bar & Grill

Sharkbite Bar & Grill is the perfect place to come and relax with a cold beverage and delicious meal. Kids will love that they can see the live dwarf shark mascot, Norman Bites, swimming around in his tank located in the restaurant. Adults will love the special Sharkbite drinks and succulent shark dishes. Sharkbite Bar & Grill is located on Runaway II Resort and has plenty of slips for visitors from the water as well. Visit the only restaurant on the lake that serves shark as well as houses one!

The Trophy Room

For traditional fare & table dining, enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner at The Trophy Room. The Trophy Room features frequent live entertainment, gorgeous views and a warm ambiance. Indoor & outdoor seating is available, offering panoramic views that showcase the natural beauty at Old Kinderhook. The Trophy Room is open daily, year-round, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Off season hours may vary. The Chef has prepared menus ranging from sandwiches and pizza to steak and seafood with nightly features. Dinner reservations are welcome!  

Restoration Farm

Restoration Farm is a small farm located outside of Stover, MO with a focus on growing chemical free vegetables, berries and fruits. They provide the local community with resources on establishing a sustainable garden. They also make stained glass art and goats milk soap products. They also have a ministry to pastors, missionaries and wounded warriors. Now Resortation Farm is in the process of establishing a Farm to Table eatery. 

February 7 - Italy 

HalfSauced Barbeque

Whether it is an intimate event, an open house or a family gathering, HalfSauced Barbeque has everything to suit your needs. Choose from their award-winning selection of smoked meats, including: pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked turkey and pulled chicken.  Not to mention the wings that have won the Wing Ding, for the last eight years.  And, don't forget about the assortment of homemade side dishes!

Hideout Bar & Grill

Hideout Bar & Grill is a family-friendly dining facility with exceptional overall value located at the Lake of the Ozarks. From award winning food and well-blended cocktails to unique entertainment and quality catering and banquet events, they want to be your neighborhood restaurant! 

Camden on the Lake

Camden on the Lake has two different dining options that are sure to meet everyone’s wishes. The high energy H.Toad’s Bar & Grill features great food, drinks, large screen TV’s and live entertainment. Come in by boat or car and see just what this hot spot is all about! Those that enjoy waterfront dining will appreciate the Frog Waterfront Bar & Grill.  Stop by and enjoy great frozen drinks, their famous “Philly” pizza or tangy chicken bites and just sit back and relax while you listen to the music!

Boathouse Lakeside Bar & Grill

The Boat House is a casual poolside restaurant and bar located on the 3mm of Lake of the Ozarks Missouri. To visit us by land we are located on the North side of Bagnell Dam off Lake Rd. W (W-20 or Village Marina Rd). Chef from the Bull Pen brings savory flavors new and old. Breakfast is served on Saturdays and Sundays. Specialities are breakfast, lunch, dinner & drinks!

Ruthie D.'s
Ruthie D's Restaurant is a casual dining experience and one of the best kept secrets at the Lake of the Ozarks. Located on Horseshoe Bend with an incredible lake view, the menu features pastas, chicken, pork, seafood, and certified Angus beef. With nightly specials created by Chef Andre' Torres, C.E.C., A.A.C. they are sure to have something to satisfy your hunger.
