What Your Favorite Wine Says About Your Love Life

The season of love is upon us, and we know exactly how you should celebrate! While we love LOVE, we also love wine, and we have many different varieties that will tickle your taste buds and remind you of romance. Many people have a specific wine that suits their fancy, and we thought it would be fun to see which Missouri Wine would match your love life. Here are a few of our special Seven Springs wines and what they have to say about your love life!

Chardonel

A good Chardonel is complex, bold and intense, and you know a good relationship is the same. You may be a person who plays it safe in love, but don't be afraid to enjoy yourself!

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir can be a grape that requires a lot of attention throughout the entire winemaking process, but the final results are so amazing that it's worth every ounce of work. Your relationship may not always be the easiest, but you know it's worth the effort, so keep at it!

Syrah

This dark red wine may show that you and your valentine are conscious of health. The dark red shade of your wine shows that you like to get the antioxidants in, and choose a beverage that reflects your athletic lifestyle.

Blushing Springs

The sweet berry aromas in this wine may mean that you always look at life with a sweet and fresh perspective. If you like this sparkling red wine, we believe you have a love life that sparkles with fun and enthusiasm!

Dry Rougeon

This wine sounds like it's bold, red, and very dry, but it's actually light-bodied, without any tannins and a delicious berry finish. Like this wine, your love life may look rather dry and even boring from the outside, but on the inside, it's full of excitement, surprises, and adventures that you get to keep all to yourselves.

Spring Fling

This light bodied wine has a fruit forward sparkling finish. Your love life may be like this wine if it's fun and maybe even a little flirty. You're always looking for a good fling, full of fun and intrigue. The lime green rim and citrus and lychee flavors may even imply that you're a bit exotic too.

Seven's Red Heaven

Beautiful. Deep. Refreshing. Just a few words that describe this wine, and if it's your favorite - it may just describe your love life too! Crisp fruit flavors and the distinct sweet finish mean that your love is savory and refreshing.

Valentine's Day at Seven Springs

We would like to cordially invite you to come try these delicious wines on Saturday, February 13th. Enjoy a Romantic Meal With Seven Springs Winery

Romance is in the air, and we love the way it sounds. Luxurious flavors, pink and red decorations, red and white roses everywhere, and our favorite, lots of wine! While there are many ways you can enjoy this weekend of love and romance, one of the best memories can be made at Seven Springs Winery for our Valentine's Day Dinner. Here are a few fun facts about Valentine's Day, and our menu to get your mouth watering.

In Victorian times, it was considered bad luck to sign a Valentine’s Day card.

Based on retail statistics, about 3 % of pet owners will give Valentine’s Day gifts to their pets.

Many believe the X symbol became synonymous with the kiss in medieval times. People who couldn't write their names signed in front of a witness with an X. The X was then kissed to show their sincerity.

Richard Cadbury produced the first box of chocolates for Valentine's Day in the late 1800s.

More than 35 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate will be sold for Valentine's Day.

15 percent of U.S. women send themselves flowers on Valentine's Day.
6 million marriage proposals are made each year on Valentine's Day

The most popular theory about Valentine's Day origin is that Emperor Claudius II didn't want Roman men to marry during wartime. Bishop Valentine went against his wishes and performed secret weddings. For this, Valentine was jailed and executed. While in jail, he wrote a note to the jailer's daughter signing it "from your Valentine".

Tips for Choosing the Right Wedding Dress

Your wedding day is full of special memories and good times, but it takes a lot of planning to get to that point. One major decision on your wedding day checklist is probably going to be your beautiful wedding dress. There are so many styles, patterns, and even colors to choose from! Here are a few tips to choosing the right dress for YOU!

Accenting a Pear Shape

To enhance your shape, you may want to look at dresses with a natural waistline that flares out into a A-line skirt. This can help draw attention to your pretty waistline, creating a beautiful silhouette.  A spaghetti strap or v-neck will highlight your shoulders and upper body beautifully.

If You're Busty

A scoop neckline will open up your face and draw attractive attention to your upper half. If you've always dreamt of a strapless gown, a sweetheart neckline can generally be more flattering than a style that cuts straight across.

Flattering Plus-Size Styles

Don't be afraid of a dress that hugs your curves! When choosing a dress that is appropriately fitted you can flatter your shape by drawing attention to what you sometimes feel the most self-conscious about. V-necks are attractive and help draw the eye back to your face, and also, create a beautiful neckline to feature a necklace if you're planning on wearing one.

If You're Apple-Shaped

You can look for a dress that cinches in at the smallest point of your waistline, and then flares out into an A shape. You can choose detailed bodices with lots of ruching, or lace details. An attractive neckline for your shape would be a deep V, which draws eyes vertically.

Stylish and Tall

You can emphasize your natural shape with your dress. You can also take advantage of lower waistlines, a floor-sweeping hem, and if you're wearing long sleeves, make sure they go past your wrist.

Enhancing a Straight-Lined Shape

Look for a dress that will create curves. You can opt for a sheath dress, with wispy fabrics. You can also wear a ballgown that cinches in a at your natural waist and descends into a flowing, floor-length skirt.

Pretty and Petite

You can take full advantage of trumpet, sheath and modified A-line gowns. You can choose a style with a  waistline above your natural waist, to make you appear longer.

If You're Small-Chested

By choosing a style with extra fabric and designs up top you can help balance the fullness of your skirt to the top of your dress. Lightly padded halter styles are also very attractive on your shape.

Plan a Winery Wedding at the Lake of the Ozarks

While your dress is a very important part of the wedding, a perfect Lake of the Ozarks venue is also just as important. Seven Springs Winery is a locally owned winery where we can offer you a family friendly, Lake of the Ozarks venue. Our gazebo is perfect for a more informal wedding. Our covered pavilion is perfect for your rehearsal dinner, reception or reunion. The pavilion provides seating for 200 people and is electrified for use of cd players, IPod stations, or a live band. Give us a call today at 573-317-0100 to book your special day!

Girl Scout Cookies and Wine - A PERFECT Pair!

If you're starting to get your Girl Scout cookie collection taken care of, now it's time to get your wine collection going. Imagine a cozy, winter evening by the fire with a whole box of your favorite cookies and a bottle of your favorite Missouri wine to wash them down. Now you just have to decide which wine will pair the best!

Thin Mints® & Pinot Noir

These chocolaty, minty cookies are a fan favorite. They can be eaten straight out of the box, or they can be frozen, or used in delicious recipes. Our Pinot Noir is a wonderful wine with a medium plum and garnet color. The berry and spices are delicate enough to perfectly enhance the cool minty-ness of the Thin Mints. The velvety tannins and long finish are a wonderful way to end this indulgence.

Samoas® & Blushing Springs

This coconut and chocolate, caramel cookie is a delectable dessert to enjoy. The flavors can be magnified by the wine you pair them with. The berry aromas in Blushing Springs are a wonderful complement to the caramel and chocolate in the Samoa. The semi-sweet finish will be a perfect finale to this sweet cookie.

Shortbread/Trefoils® & Moscato Sparkling

This simple cookie will pair beautifully with our exciting Moscato Sparkling. The buttery sweetness of the cookie pairs with the brilliant, light straw color and tropical fruit and flower flavors. This wine is light bodied, fruit forward with a sparkling finish.

Do-Si-Dos® & Dry Rougeon

A rich, peanut butter sandwich cookie needs only one thing - a light bodied, red wine. There is a crisp, crunchy oatmeal on the outside and a creamy peanut butter inside. Our Dry Rougeon wine has no tannins and has a delightful berry finish.

Rah-Rah Raisin™ & Syrah

Whole grain oats, raisins, and Greek yogurt-flavored chunks are just a few of the gems waiting in your next bite. Pair this cookie with our Syrah wine and you may find that the currant, blackberry, and black pepper flavors become even more poignant. The subtle vanilla oak finish is a perfect way to end this delicious pairing.

Toffee-tastic™ & Seven's Red Heaven

Indulge yourself with this rich, buttery cookie. It has crunchy, golden toffee bits, and is available with a gluten-free variety. Pair this cookie with our Seven's Red Heaven and you can draw out the beautiful deep plum color and crisp fruit flavors. The distinct sweet finish pairs perfectly with the sweet toffee taste.

Tagalongs® & Norton

There's something incredibly indulgent about a layer of peanut butter and rich chocolaty coating. This is a mouth-watering treat, and paired with a cool glass of Norton, this combo will be amazing. The opaque deep plum color, tobacco, oak flavors, and the full-bodied, spicy smooth persistent finish make this a wonderful pairing option.

Fun Facts About Missouri Wine

Did you know that Missouri is home to over 125 wineries? Of course, we all know where to find the best wine at the Lake of the Ozarks! Missouri has played an important role in winemaking in the last hundred years, and the Show Me state is showing that it really loves wine. Here are a few interesting facts that you may or may not have known about Missouri wine.

Missouri Wins Top Awards at National and International Competitions

Year after year, Missouri is continually bringing home gold, double gold, best in class and other high-ranking awards from competitions around the world.

Missouri Has an Official State Grape

In 2003, the Norton grape became the official grape of Missouri. It is a Native American grape, and supposedly one of the oldest varieties still commercially grown. Norton is a big, dry red wine and is as unique as it is amazing. Our own Norton wine is an opaque deep plum color, with hints of tobacco and oak. It's full bodied, spicy and smooth with a persistent finish.

Missouri is home to the 1st Ever AVA

the American Viticulture Area (AVA) is a designated grape-growing region. In 1980, August was named the first ever AVA, because of it's unique soil, climate and wines, as well as the long history they have of being the oldest and foremost grape and wine district.

Missouri Saved the French Wine

Back in the 1870s, French wineries were dying due to a vineyard pest call Phylloxera. A Missouri Entomologist named C.V. Riley discovered American rootstock was resistant to this pest, and it was sent overseas and grafted into the French vines, thus helping rebuild their industry.

Missouri Makes a LOT of Wine

Over 900,000 gallons of wine are produced in Missouri alone, ever year! All of those bottled lined up would nearly span the widths of the state.

Prohibition Was Hard for Missouri Wines

Before the prohibition, Missouri was 2nd in the country in wine production, just behind New York. Now Missouri holds number 14th for American Wine Production.

Wine Trails

There are many wine trails in Missouri, and one of the best happens every year here at Seven Springs. In 2015, we started the first Annual Wine Trail Competition. All of the wineries get a chance to get together and compete for who has the best wine while you get the chance to TRY the best wine! It's a win-win for everyone.

Seven Springs Winery has been located in the Lake of the Ozarks for seven years. We proudly serve Missouri wine.
