Summer Wedding Trends at the Lake of the Ozarks

This week has reminded us that summer is just around the corner. Before we know it, the temps will be warm, the sun will be high, and the Lake will be as busy as ever. With that comes another fantastic wedding season at the Lake of the Ozarks. If you’ve always dreamt of a winery wedding at the Lake of the Ozarks, we would love to invite you out to Seven Springs Winery. If you already have your summer wedding booked, and still need some planning ideas, here are a few of our favorites for this season!

Sophisticated Brights

Bright colors are great for summer, but if you aren’t careful it could look like a wedding circus tent (which could be a cute theme, actually … ). Keep it sophisticated and bright by pairing up just a couple bright hues alone or with an accent color. Pink and orange are popular shades for summer, along with bright blues and beach-y greens. Carry these colors through your centerpieces and floral arrangements to create a wonderful, pulled together look.

Chill Music

When looking for your band, a trending option is to find a group who keeps it chill. This works especially well at our Lake of the Ozarks winery. We love to have a chill atmosphere with live music on the patio and a glass of wine in our hands. If this sounds like the ideal Lake of the Ozarks wedding venue, we’d love to help you start planning!

Exciting New Themes

Beach and garden themes are always a huge hit in the summer but don’t be afraid to take a personal spin. Think of a place that you and your significant other always enjoy going (like your favorite winery, perhaps *wink*), and then bring pieces of that into your design. If you have a specific beach where you took your first vacation or a place you love to enjoy nature in - it can be a wonderful inspiration. Better yet, plan something around your honeymoon destination!

Surprise Invitations

You can always go traditional on your wedding invitations, OR, you could do something fun and surprising! If your wedding colors include a bright teal, think about including that color in your invitation. You can use bright teal envelopes to add some fun pops of color.

Back to Basics Centerpieces

Eco-friendly wedding decor is becoming a fun option - and one of the most interesting things brides are using is food! Summer weddings would be great with citrus as the centerpiece, along with grapes (obviously), or even hollowed out watermelons with floral arrangements inside. Of course, you can’t get more eco-friendly than repurposed wine bottles for floral arrangements. I would be quite the unique touch, wouldn’t it?

Wine Smoothies

Seriously, we can’t make this stuff up! Summer brides of 2018 are making these cold, frosty treats a huge hit at their weddings. You’ll be at the perfect place to make such a great statement, as well. Consider using the best Missouri wine for a delicious wine smoothie to serve at your wedding. It could be both a signature cocktail and a way to provide alcohol without quite the alcoholic punch.

More Than Just Cake

If you’re getting married in the summer, there are a few things to think about when it comes to cake. The first is if you’ll be having the reception outdoors and it’s going to be steamy. If so, you’ll want to opt for something that holds up to the heat well. After that, it’s really up to you! If you aren’t sure what flavor to choose, think of going with something that has a summer flair. Strawberries and cream, key lime pie, or orange with vanilla. The possibilities are endless. Better yet, see if you can hire an ice cream truck to stop by during the reception for an icy cold treat.

Your Lake Wedding

The Lake of the Ozarks is such a dreamy place to host your wedding. The gorgeous views, and exceptional summer weather, and of course, the delicious wine all make for a wonderful combination. If you haven’t booked your wedding date yet, give us a call! Summertime dates fill up FAST, but we want you to have the wedding of your dreams, so give us a call and see what’s still available! We hope it’s filled with all of the summer romance that you’ve been dreaming of.

Spring Weddings for the Blushing Bride

"Oh, they say when you marry in June you’re a bride all your life,
and the bridegroom who marries in June gets a sweet-heart for a wife."
“June Bride” from the movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Will you be a June bride? June and other spring months have been popular choices for wedding dates for decades. There’s something sentimental and romantic about a spring wedding. If you’re a spring bride, how is the planning going? Here are a few things you may want to think about for your spring wedding at the Lake of the Ozarks!

Have a Backup Plan

Spring is a fickle season, some days are glorious with beautiful weather and sunny days. Other days bring surprise storms and torrential downpours. Because you can’t be guaranteed a spectacular weather day, it’s best to have a “plan B” just in case. At Seven Springs Winery, we have many beautiful outdoor wedding venues at the Lake of the Ozarks. We also have a location indoors for those days when the weather won’t cooperate.

Find Your Wedding Shoes

If you haven’t found the perfect pair yet, it’s time to get hunting. You’ll want to allow for plenty of time to start breaking in your wedding shoes well before the big day. Revel in true girly-girl style by slipping on your shoes every evening. Wandering around the house for 5-10 minutes can break them in while keeping them clean.

What Time is Sunset?

As the seasons change, it’s a good idea to think about how the lighting will improve your big day. If you’ll be having an evening ceremony, you may want to plan the ceremony right before sunset. Then it will fade into a wonderful spring evening for the reception and make for a glorious event!

Plan for Your Guests Comfort

Spring weather can have some uncertainties, so plan ahead for your guests. Spring evenings can still be a little chilly so you can invest in standing heaters to gather around. You could also provide comfortable blankets for them to cuddle under.

Take Advantage of Natural Beauty

The spring season naturally produces beautiful surroundings. Everything is finally green, the flowers are blooming, the birds are singing. Use this to your advantage! You can still incorporate floral arrangements, but you can make use of natural beauty. This can also save you money in your wedding budget!

Your Lake of the Ozarks Wedding

If you’ve always dreamt of having a wedding at the Lake of the Ozarks, NOW is the time to get started! Spring and summer weddings are the highlights of the season. If you are looking for an affordable wedding venue at the Lake of the Ozarks, Seven Springs Winery is here for you. Surrounded by the beauty of a blooming winery, say your vows at the most beautiful wedding venue at the Lake of the Ozarks. Visit our website to download a FREE bridal packet, or give us a call at 573-317-0100 today.

Wedding Trends for 2018

At Seven Springs Winery, we specialize in more than just a great glass of wine! We also have an amazing wedding coordinator on staff, and love to help you host a winery wedding at the Lake of the Ozarks. If you are a new bride, we would love to invite you to come and tour our Lake of the Ozarks winery and see if it will provide the perfect atmosphere for your big day! Until then, here are a few HOT trends that are hitting the aisle next year so you can jump start your planning!

Rustic Chic

This trend has been around for a little while now, but it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon! From rustic, romantic shots, to burlap and lace, and wooden accents, the rustic style is here to stay. Add extra special finishing touches by keeping things personal with homemade favors, handmade wreaths, and garland, or handwritten cards.

First Look Photos

The first look photo trend is still an extremely popular and a wonderful tradition to incorporate. While it isn’t the original tradition (it started as waiting to see the bride until the ceremony), with many couples needing to take photos before the ceremony, the first look can be an extremely sentimental way make this moment special. Will you incorporate a first look into your wedding day?

Keep It In One Place

Many wedding experts believe that it’s important to keep the guests in one place, meaning that you don’t have the ceremony and one location and then transport everyone to a new location for the reception. Instead, keep the fun and romantic energy flowing and the party even more lively by transitioning to a new area without having to leave your venue. Seven Springs Winery has many beautiful places to host not only your ceremony but also your reception. From the outdoor patio and gazebo to the indoor reception venue at the Lake of the Ozarks, we can accommodate groups large and small in style.

Dress Up to Show Up!

The end of the 2017 and beginning of the 2018 wedding season are bringing some fun fashions to the runways! Romantic accents, off the shoulder dresses, plunging necklines, and ornate embellishments are just the start! If you’re especially bold, trying wearing a wedding dress in a bright shade! While it may not be traditional, it can be a fun way to add a memorable focal point.

Insta “Save the Dates”

Technology has put a new spin on weddings (and other events for that matter!), and many couples are choosing to send electronic versions of their save the date instead of the snail mail version. Have you sent out a fun photo announcing your upcoming nuptial date? We want to see it! Be sure to comment with your invites!

Should I Do A Seating Chart For My Wedding?

As a busy bride, we're sure the last thing you've been thinking about is a seating chart for all of your guests - but it's time to consider it. Sure, it's just one more thing to plan out, but is it actually worth the work involved? At Seven Springs Winery, we have a large banquet center that can seat up to 350 guests, so you'll need to decide whether it's worth it to invest time in your guests' seating plans or let the wing it. Here are a few ways you can decide whether a seating chart would be good for your wedding.

Do You Seat, Or Do You Not?

It can seem like a lot of work to make a seating arrangement, but there are actually some really great reasons to do so for some weddings. Here is a good way to decide if you should do it or not.

  • Do you have more than 100 guests invited?
  • Do you have guests from different areas and seasons of your life?
  • Do any of your guests have issues getting along?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you may want to consider doing a seating arrangement, even if just table arrangements.

Seating Chart Benefits

While taking the time to do a seating arrangement may make you feel like a bit of a control freak - there are actually some great benefits to doing one. As the hostess of this large event, part of your job is to make your guests feel comfortable and ensure that they are having a great time. While we're sure you can come up with many reasons to NOT have one on your own, here are a few reasons you may want one.

You Can Arrange Guests Based on Interests

Your guests will likely be sitting at their table for a few hours, between appetizers, the meal, watching the wedding event proceed (like the dances, speeches, cake cutting, and more). That means your guests will be sitting at a table with people they may or may not know for a while. You can make this easier by placing people together that you know will get along. If you have some cousins who like fly fishing, and your new spouse has some friends who enjoy it, placing them together could mean they'll have some great company.

Make Your Single Guests Comfortably

It can be hard to come to a wedding alone - especially if you only know the bride or the groom. Make it easier on your single guests by placing them with other people they may get along with. This can also possibly alleviate needing to invite +1's since you are giving them good company.

Out of Room?

What would you do if you and your significant other had mingled in the lobby a little too long, and by the time you came into the reception area, the only seats available were single seats? It would be challenging to try and move people, and you wouldn't want to sit alone. You could probably pull up a seat, but that would make the other guests cramped. You can save your guests this possible embarrassment with seating arrangements. No matter how long they mingle, their seat is always there for them.

It Can Manage Drama

While this may not help control ALL of the drama, it certainly can help a bit. We're not even just talking about guests who clearly don't like each other, but guests who wouldn't naturally get along either. While it may seem unlikely that your liberal aunt and your significant other's conservative uncle would happen to sit together, if they do - it could make for an awkward time for all surrounding them. You can save this from happening by placing these family members with people they will get along with and they everyone will have a better time.

Successfully Planning Your Wedding Registry

As any newly engaged couple is quickly learning, there is a lot involved in planning your upcoming wedding day. There's nothing that makes our heart flutter more than a winery wedding. The atmosphere, beautiful bride, and obviously the wine, make for a dream come true! At Seven Springs Winery, we provide you not only with the best wedding venue at the Lake of the Ozarks but also a wonderful winery experience. Here are a few fun and festive ideas you can incorporate into your winery wedding!

Wine Cork Key Ring Favors

At some point, your guests will certainly need a key ring to keep things organized. What better way to do it than with a cork from your wedding! You can special order some with imprints like your names and wedding date, or you can save them up before the wedding - but you may have to drink a lot of wine beforehand to make that work. Oh, darn ...

Wine Cork Holder Wall Decor

Of course, if you want to use your hard earned corks in a different way, you could try this piece of wall art! Have all of your guests sign a wine cork and then fill your customized shadow box with the memories. You can even add wine corks from fun events through your married years, like anniversaries, the birth of your babies, big accomplishments, and more!

Table Numbers with Wine Bottles

There are many unique ways to display wine bottles at your wedding, and this one is adorable. While we've seen plenty of table numbers displayed ON the bottle, this one incorporates the cork as well. Of course, you could also try making the wine bottle into a candle holder AND table number. The possibilities are endless when it comes to utilizing wine bottles and corks for your table decor!

Creative Wedding Cakes

If there's one thing that goes well with wine, it's cheese! So why not opt for a unique wedding cake made from cheese? You can incorporate many different types of cheese stacked on top of each other - or you could also do actual cheesecake.

Wedding Favors That Your Guests Will Love

Are you planning your winery wedding at the Lake of the Ozarks? There can be so many details that you didn't even know would need to be decided on, from colors to chair covers. Let's not even start talking about the wedding favors too! There are so many types to choose from, but in the end, you want something that will remind your guests of your special day, while still being practical. Whether it's something they can take home and eat or use, here are a few ways to decide what type of favor you would like to go with.

Choose Something Sentimental

Do you and your spouse-to-be have something special that maybe started your relationship or has been a staple in your relationship? Maybe you both drank rootbeer and mountain dew from glass bottles throughout the relationship, this would be a fun way to provide drinks for your guests, and also show them a piece of your relationship. Did your fiance propose to you using something unique, like a Taco Bell sauce packet? You could have one sitting at every place setting with a fun message!

Make it Edible

Guests always love something they can eat! Are you getting married in a unique location, like a Lake of the Ozarks Winery? You could give them something themed around grapes, like mini jars of jelly. If your heritage is important to you, you could feature a dessert from that country. Or, you could give everyone chocolate dipped spoons for their coffee or hot chocolate if you'll be getting married in the winter.

Double It Up

Maybe you want to accomplish two things at once? Make your favors and escort cards two in one! Candy, Christmas ornaments, or even cute pine cone fire starters are all cute ways to accomplish this. Even better, you could use mini bottles of wine with their name tied on a tag around the neck!

Give Back

If giving back to others is a huge part of your relationship, or even how you came together, this could make a unique wedding favor! You can put cards at each place setting saying how much you've given to a charity in their name. Look for the right organization or even pick a few!

Stick With Your Theme

One of the easiest ways to choose the right wedding favors is to think of your theme. If it's a rustic fall wedding, you can give candles, fall candy, or popcorn balls. If you're having a spring garden wedding, you can give pretty teacup candles, a bag of your favorite tea, or even seed packets.

Plan Your Wedding at the Lake of the Ozarks

Are you still looking for a venue for your wedding? Look no further than Seven Springs Winery! Our wedding packages start at just $4,000 and we would love to guide you through the planning process. Visit our website to learn more about our wedding venue, and download an information packet!
