Here is a checklist that you can follow, along with a timeline to achieve everything by to keep you a little less stressed.

10-12 Months Before Your Wedding

Congratulations! This is the beginning of a fun adventure, and you are only just getting started. Here are a few things you'll want to start doing.

1. Announce your engagement
2. Set up a time for parents to meet each other if they haven't already
3. Set your wedding budget
4. Start delegating wedding tasks, and make notes of who is responsible for different details
5. Select your wedding date, location (hint: choose the best wedding venue at the Lake of the Ozarks!), and be sure to reserve both the ceremony and reception site
6. Finalize your guest lists
7. Consider hiring a wedding planner

6-9 Months Before Your Wedding

The days are getting even shorter leading up to your event, but we know you've got everything under control!

1. Choose your photographer, florist, hairstylist, caterer, honeymoon locations, wedding rings, wedding dress, wedding cake and groom's attire.
2. Select music for the ceremony and reception, and don't forget to book entertainment

3-5 Months Before Your Wedding

Can you hardly stand the wait and anticipation? It's almost here, and there are still some details left to wrap up.

1. Select your wedding invitations, and be sure to order them, along with other wedding stationary
2. Choose wedding favors and place the orders for them
3. Start purchasing decorations for the ceremony and reception
4. Reserve necessary transportation (we have a shuttle available, be sure to ask about it when booking your date!)

1-2 Months Before Your Wedding

It's so close you can almost feel it - and we hope you're only feeling the excitement and not the stress.

1. Re-confirm the bookings that you have for the photographer, hairstylist, florist, honeymoon, and caterer
2. Go to your final dress fitting
3. Double check that your suppliers and vendors have all been paid what is necessary
4. Send out your invitations

1-2 Weeks Before Your Wedding

You can finally stop counting in months and start counting in weeks! You're almost there, don't stop now!

1. Finalize the seating plan
2. Pack for your honeymoon
3. Treat yourself to a spa day!
4. Make sure the arrangements for decorating are finalized, and start preparing for the task

Reserve YOUR Pod for Our Fireworks Display!

One of the highlights of summer is kicking back and enjoying the best wine at the Lake of the Ozarks, but add fireworks into the mix, and it's even better. The display will be presented by Brilliant Skies and it's going to be the biggest display in our history, not to mention, you can enjoy it on your very own seating pod. There are a lot of new things happening at Seven Springs Winery, and you won't want to miss out on any of the fun!

The Seven Springs Winery Fireworks Show

Grab your best friends and plan to spend a night under the stars AND the fireworks for a beautiful summer evening. This display is going to be one for the books, from our biggest display to the delicious BBQ buffet.

One of the most exciting details about this event is our newly renovated patio and landscaping area. The patio and waterfall are equally peaceful and beautiful, making the back of our winery a wonderful place to sit back and enjoy a glass of wine with friends.

Our Seating Pods

While our new water feature is really neat, we have also added our new seating pods! These small patios give you a perfect place to enjoy your meal, wine, and the fireworks. There are only five seating pods that you can reserve, and there are only THREE LEFT! Here are the amenities that come with a seating pod when you reserve one for this event:

• FREE entry to the buffet dinner
• Your own personal server

Other Reservations

You can reserve a seat for the fireworks show on our lower patio for only $15 per person, and these will only be accepted with the availability of space. If this is something you and your friends or family would like to do, be sure to make a call to our winery ASAP.

Final Details

The fireworks show will be held on July 23rd, and you won't want to miss it. We will be offering a BBQ buffet for only $15 per person, and we'll obviously have bottles of chilled wine waiting to be uncorked just for you. Mark your calendars TODAY for this event, and don't forget to call and reserve your seats, as they will be limited.

The History of Mother's Day

Mother's Day was historically founded in the early 1900's, but there are many historical holidays's that came before Mother's Day with the same premise.

Back during the time of the ancient Greeks and Romans, they celebrated their mother goddesses, Rhea and Cybele. They had festivals that celebrated these to deities, because of their "mothering." Another, more realistic holiday that is similar to Mother's Day, is Mothering Sunday in the United Kingdom. This holiday isn't in practice much anymore, because the modern day Mother's Day has taken over, but in the past, it was a major tradition in the UK and many other parts of Europe. For the fourth Sunday of Lent, people would gather together at the "mother church" - which was the main church in the vicinity of their home, for a special service. Eventually, Mothering Sunday shifted more towards honoring the mother in your life and became more of a secular holiday.

This brings us to the national holiday we all know as Mother's Day. It was founded by Anna Jarvis, the daughter of Anne Reeves Jarvis. She created this even after the death of her mother in 1905 and teamed up with John Wanamaker who owned a department store. Anna got financial backing for her endeavor as well, with the goal to honor mother's and their sacrifice. In May of 1908 the first Mother's Day as we know it was held at a small Methodist church in West Virginia, as well as may other gatherings at Wanamaker stores across the country.

Anna then petitioned to make this a holiday on the national calendar, and after many written letters, and campaigns, she official won in 1914.

While Mother's Day itself has only been around for just over 100 years, mothers have been around for thousands. We appreciate everything mothers do for their families, and we want to thank you.

How To Become a Wine Snob!

There's nothing we love more than a delicious glass of the best Missouri wine, but to truly savor a glass, sometimes you have to tap into your inner wine snob. From the way the wine looks, to the way it smells, and finally tastes, all of these details work together to create a wonderful sipping experience that can't be beat. At Seven Springs Winery, we have created a lovely venue where you can sip your wine slowly, peacefully, and snobbily. If you have yet to really learn how to be a wine snob, we have a few tips that are sure to help you!

LOOK

Come out and buy your favorite bottle of wine. Then you pour a glass and take a really good look at it. You can tilt the glass away from you to admire the color of the wine from the rim edges to the middle of the glass. If you can find a light colored background to hold it against, you'll look especially snobby. What color are you seeing? Look beyond red or white. Is the red shade a maroon, purple, ruby, garnet, red, brick or even brownish? Does your glass of white wine have a clear, pale yellow, straw-like, light green, golden, amber or brown appearance? These are observations that you can write down in your wine notebook so that you don't forget a single detail of your favorite Lake of the Ozarks wine. Next, you will inspect the opacity. Is the wine watery, or dark, translucent or opaque, dull or brilliant, cloudy or clear? Tilt your glass a bit, give it a little swirl, and look again. Do you see sediment, bits of cork or anything else? An older red wine will often have more orange tinges than a younger wine. An older white wine can be darker than younger varieties, even when comparing the same varietal different ages.

SMELL

Your sense of smell can be your most powerful sense when sipping a glass of wine. Get a good impression of the wine's aroma by swirling your glass for at least 10-12 seconds. This helps vaporize some of the wine's alcohol and release more of its natural aromas. After you've swirled it for a bit, take a quick whiff to get the first impression of this amazing wine. Now you can stick your nose down into the glass and take a deep inhale through your nose. What else do you catch in this whiff? Do you recognize scents of oak, berry, flowers, vanilla or citrus? The aroma of a wine can tell you so much about it, the quality and unique characteristics. If you want to really look like you have a nose for wine, you can swirl it again and let the aromas mix and mingle, finally sniff once more.

TASTE

Now for the best part, tasting your sparkling glass of wine. Start with a small sip and roll it around in your mouth. First, you'll want to notice the initial impression that the wine makes in your mouth. You'll want to notice if the alcohol content, tannin levels, acidity and residual sugars are well balanced, and that one isn't more prominent than the other. Next, you'll start to observe the wine's actual taste on your palate. Discern the flavor profile of the wine you're drinking. If it's red, you may notice fruit, berry, plum, prune or fig - maybe even some spice like pepper, clove, cinnamon, or a woody flavor like oak, cedar or some smokiness. Are you tasting a white wine? You may observe apple, pear, tropical or citrus fruits. You may even begin to pick up on hints of honey, butter, herbs or some earthiness. Finally, how long does the wine leave an impression on your taste buds? This is called The Finish. The wine culminates, and you will notice the aftertaste.

Everyone loves a good party, and one way to make your wedding especially fun is to incorporate games! Wedding Guess Who

Do you have fond memories of playing Guess Who with your friends or siblings? You can find old boards at second-hand stores, and then insert photos of your guests! You can have several boards scattered around your Lake of the Ozarks wedding venue, and then see how many people can Guess Who is on the board!

Ring Toss

If you like to save your Missouri wine bottles, you can put them in a cute box, and everyone can try to throw hoops and land around the bottles. If you want to take it up a notch, you can always make the "rings" giant renditions of your own gorgeous bling!

Wedding Cross Word

Crosswords are a fun pastime, and can be a great way to entertain your guests while they're waiting for the ceremony to start, or when they are sitting at their table enjoying their meal. Think of several words that describe your relationship with your significant other, and then you can plug them into a crossword generator online! You can put this on your programs, a large sign with glass over it so it can be erased, or even on the reception tables.

"Put A Ring On It"

This game is quite simple, you set out a bowl of crazy plastic rings, and everyone who wants to play takes one. From that point on, they are not allowed to say "wedding" or "bride." If you catch someone saying those words, you get to steal their ring! The person with the most rings at the end of the wedding gets a fun prize of your choice.

Customized Corn Hole

This is a fun game that can be enjoyed by all ages and is often found scattered around Pinterest for weddings. You can customize the boards with your wedding colors or themes and then play away for a fun evening! This can be played indoors or out, so you can incorporate it no matter what time of year you get married!

I Spy

Create a list of items that people have to search for and grab on the phones throughout the night! This can be a fun game for adults and kids alike. Whoever finds the most things on your list can receive a fun prize or special wedding favor. Here is an example of some things you can have your guests search for:

Dry Vignoles 
Aromas of Tangerine and oranges. Crisp vibrant acidity precedes a long and refreshing finish.

Pair with: German Pretzel Bread 

Bavarian style pretzel bread sprinkled with sea salt and served with spicy mustard.

Chardonel
Light to medium straw color. Medium body, fruity with toasted oak.

Pair with: Penne Pesto Pasta 

Lightly tossed with extra virgin olive oil, pesto, and parmesan cheese. Served with a side salad and garlic bread

Traminette

Light straw with green hues. Light bodied, with a fruity yet off dry finish.
Pair with: Spinach & Artichoke Dip

Vignoles
Mid straw color with olive green tone. Flavorful bodied, peach, melon & citrus.

Spring Fling
Light straw color with a lime green rim. Light bodied with fruity, citrus & lychee.

Muscato Sparkling
Brilliant, light straw, tropical fruit & flowers. Light bodied, fruit forward sparkling finish.

Syrah
Aromas of currant, blackberry, black pepper with a subtle vanilla oak finish.

Norton
An opaque deep plum color, tobacco, oak. Full bodied, spicy smooth persistent finish.

Sangria Rojo
A light, refreshing blend of sprite, orange juice, and Dry Rougeon wine.
