7 Tips for Staying Organized in the Wedding Planning Process

Wedding planning can be filled with many details, budgets and important deadlines to meet. How is one woman supposed to keep all of this organized? From color coded filing systems to using your Pinterest boards, there are many ways you can keep yourself organized and limit the chaos. Here are a few things to remember while you're planning your Lake of the Ozarks wedding!

Keep a Master To Do List

This list will always bring you back to focus on what you need to accomplish. You can keep it on your phone or a Google document. They key is to have it where you can always get to it, and it won't get deleted or lost by accident. You can organize this list by month to help you stay focused on what needs to be taken care of right now, and not stress out about the details that will be taken care of later down the road.

Keep a Calendar with Major Dates

Your wedding date won't be the only important date you'll have to remember, so a calendar will help keep things from slipping through the cracks. You can include dates that payments are due, your bridal shower, the dates that certain decisions need to be made by and more. There are so many details to remember when getting married at the Lake of the Ozarks, and a calendar will help you feel more at peace about not forgetting anything.

Organize Your Budget

This will be one of the first things you do before you can secure your Lake of the Ozarks wedding venue or vendors. The first decision will be deciding who will be paying for the wedding, or which parts they'll be taking care of. Then you can make a spreadsheet that keeps track of the budget, and how much you've spent over the course of the wedding.

Use Those Online Timelines

If you look on Pinterest for any amount of time, you'll notice those timelines that show what you need to have completed and by what time. This can be a huge help to you, especially when you are new to wedding planning and don't really know where to start. You can customize them to your own wedding, and it can help ease your mind as to what needs to be planned and by when.

Use Pinterest to Stay Organized

While Pinterest may be a time water for some, for wedding planning, it is a lifesaver! Make sure you utilize it to its fullest potential and create boards to help you stay organized through the planning process. You can visually establish what details you want at the wedding, the hair styles, bridesmaids dresses and accessories and more. As you start to narrow down exactly which items you want, you can delete images off your board to keep it from getting cluttered. You can also invite your bridal party to pin ideas to the board as well.

Open a Separate Email Account

You will realize the benefit of this after you've been married for a few months, and you don't have all of the emails still cluttering your inbox. As you sign up for different accounts, events and deals, you will begin to get a LOT of emails. While these emails are great now, they will be a pain to receive after the wedding is over, and it can take hours to unsubscribe to the accounts and clean your inbox. With a separate email address, you'll have just one place to look when you are planning!

Keep a List of Ways People Can Help You

Family and friends will always be offering to help with the wedding, and you don't need to be super bride and tell them that you have it all "under control." Instead, make this list, and as people start to offer, gladly designate a part of the celebration to them!
