Your Favorite Pie with Your Favorite Wine!

If there’s one thing we’re thankful for this season, it’s a good Missouri wine - or any wine for that matter! At Seven Springs Winery, we are also grateful for some of the best customers that anyone could hope for. We love seeing you out here every weekend, drinking our Lake of the Ozarks wine, laughing with friends, and making incredible memories. Of course, this year, you may be enjoying time with family, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t still thinking about us! While enjoying your Thanksgiving pie, keep these wine pairings from Seven Springs Winery in mind! You’re going to love them.

Pumpkin Pie & Spring Fling

If you want to choose a wine that matches the holiday spices, we highly suggest the light bodied and fruity flavors of our Spring Fling. This white wine will be perfect for your holiday dessert.

Blueberry Pie & Blushing Springs

The flavors in our sparkling red wine are both rich and smooth, making it a delightful pair with blueberry pie. The sweet berry aromas also pair well, and the semi-sweet finish is splendid with the sweetness of the pie.

Sweet Potato Pie & Traminette

You’ll want to choose a wine that adds the perfect notes to this pie, the rich and hearty spices will pair wonderfully with our traminette. It is a light bodied wine, with a fruity, yet off-dry finish.

Apple Pie & Chardonel

Our rich chardonel pairs well with the apple flavors from the pie and the butter flavors in the crust. It has a medium body, with undertones that are fruity with notes of toasted oak - a wonderful pair for this classic pie.

Peanut Butter Pie & Syrah

Peanut butter pie is a delightful classic, but it’s also sweet, rich, and has notes of chocolate in the crust. Because of that, you'll want a wine that can hold it’s own with this type of pie. We think that our Syrah would be ideal. The aromas of currant, blackberry, and black pepper complement the richness of the peanut butter, and the subtle vanilla oak finish is superb.

Chocolate Cream Pie & Norton

Chocolate cream pie is also another rich pie, but absolutely decadent. Pair it with our Norton wine for a beautiful combination of tobacco, oak, and a spicy smooth persistent finish with the smooth chocolatey flavors of the pie.

Lemon Meringue Pie & Vignoles

Do you enjoy the fresh lemony citrus flavors of the lemon meringue pie? Well, you’ll love them with the flavorful bodies, peach, melon & citrus flavors in our Vignoles wine.

Key Lime Pie & Muscato Sparkling

Key lime is a special pie, so it needs a special wine. We think that our Muscato Sparkling would pair wonderfully with the key lime. The sparkling finish and the tropical fruit & flowers will make you think you’re on a sandy beach!

Pear Pie & Dry Vignoles

Pears are a notoriously sweet fruit so the flavors in our Dry Vignoles will pair well to help balance out the sweetness. This wine is flavorful bodies, with hints of peach, melon, and citrus.

Pecan Pie & Seven’s Red Heaven

Oh, what a classic, pecan pie is liable to be on every table around the nation - but we would love to see it served up with our Seven’s Red Heaven for the perfect pair! This wine boasts of a beautiful, deep plum color, along with refreshing, crisp, fruit flavors and a distant sweet finish - perfect for a sweet pie!

Cherry Pie & Spring Red

Cherry pie is another all American classic, so we think it would be served well with our semi-sweet red wine. It has a hint of black cherry and a wonderful velvet finish. Sounds like a cherry pie dream, doesn’t it?

Happy Thanksgiving!

From all of us at Seven Springs Winery, we hope that you have a wonderful holiday with your friends and family. No matter how you celebrate, whether it’s with a huge group of people or just a few close friends, may you be able to open a bottle of your favorite Missouri wine, and celebrate. Once the holiday is over, you may need a break from all of the holiday spirit - and we provide the perfect respite! Come out and see us!

15 Things You May Not Have Known About Wine

Wine can be a very complex set of flavors. It’s sweet and welcoming, it’s bold and exciting - and yet it captivates us at every sip. Of course, there are some really funny things to know about this unique beverage as well! If you’ve ever been curious about the random, funny, and obscure facts that surround your decadent glass of wine, here are 15 fun facts to wet your whistle with!

Chilling tones down the sweetness of wine, but if a red wine becomes too warm, it may lose some of its fruity flavor.
The word “sommelier” is an old French word meaning butler or an officer in charge of provisions, derived from the Old Provençal saumalier, or pack-animal driver.

The “Cheers” ritual started back in the Middle Ages, when poisoning was a favorite way to get rid of an enemy. To be sure their glass was poison-free, drinkers would first pour a bit of wine into each other’s glass, so if there was poison in one, it was now in both.

China has become the leading market for red wine—not just for its flavor. It’s a color favored by the government, and also is considered lucky.

Did you know that one glass of wine consists of juice from one cluster of grapes. One cluster is made up of 75 grapes.

The average age of a French oak tree harvested for use in creating wine barrels is 170 years.

The primary fruit crop in Napa Valley during the 1940’s was Prunes – Not grapes.

Wine ‘tastings’ are somewhat inaccurately named – top sommeliers agree that smell is by far the most important sense when it comes to drinking wine.

Due to a natural chemical balance, grapes ferment without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes, water, or other nutrients.

Wine is made in virtually every country in the world.

“Toasting” started in ancient Rome when the Romans sustained the Greek tradition. They would drop a piece of toasted bread into the wine glass to soften unsavory tastes.

Wonder why tasters “swirl” the wine in their glass? They do this to release its powerful aromas. If you notice, most don’t fill the glass more than a third full so when they allow the aromas to collect, they not spill it!

California is the fourth largest producer of wine in the world. The other three are France, Spain, and Italy.

To get the same amount of antioxidants you find in wine, you would need to drink 20 glasses of apple juice or seven glasses of orange juice.

How do you hold a wine glass? There is a right and wrong way. Wine glasses should be held by the stem, so that way it the hand does not raise the temperature of the wine. The stem is for a reason!

Need a Glass Now?

If you’re now craving a glass of your favorite Lake of the Ozarks wine - we can help! Come out to the Lake’s original winery for one of our incredible varieties. From red to white, and sparkling to sweet, we have many different varieties and we would love to share them. Spring Wedding Trends to Swoon For

We may be approaching the dead of winter, but for those of you who recently got engaged, spring is in the air! Fresh flowers, warm breezes, and green grass will be popping up celebrating your upcoming nuptials with you - and so will Seven Springs Winery. We have the best wedding venue at the Lake of the Ozarks, and we would love to be apart of your beautiful celebration. As you plan your spring wedding, here are a few trends that are popping up just like the tulips will be!

DIAMONDS AND PEARLS

This may seem like a timeless trend, but it's something you will be seeing everywhere, from accents to accessories, to even details on the bridal gowns. Do you want to add these two beautiful gems to your wedding theme?

BLACK AND WHITE

While wearing all black to your wedding may still be a bit shocking to certain generations - adding black accents can be quite stunning. A black lace train on your gown, obviously black tuxes, or black and white roses on your reception tables can be incredibly striking and very trendy this year.

VISIBLE CORSETS

Brides around the country are choosing bridal gowns with a bit of flair, and maybe a shock factor. The underwear as outwear trend has actually been quite popular for a while, but it's still going strong. This boudoir look is elevated with incredibly delicate details, embroidery, appliqués and more. Are you brave enough to try it? We'd love to see it!

MILLENIAL PINK AND BABY BLUE

Easter egg blue and pastel pink are quite popular this season, from colored wedding dresses to accents throughout the bridal apparel, wedding decor, and more. If your wedding will be in the spring, what better time to take advantage of these popular colors than now?

70's THROWBACK

Flouncy, 70's style wedding dresses are making a comeback. From off the shoulder styles, to lacey details, you'll probably get a throwback feeling when looking through the catalogs. This style is perfect for the relaxed feeling at our Lake of the Ozarks winery, and we'd love to see some brides sporting this style spring 2018.

PRETTY BELTS

Such a great way to accent your figure and add a bit of glam and style to your wedding apparel. You'll be seeing these all of the wedding dress guides this year. If you want to tie two styles into one, you could do a diamond or pearl studded belt to really bring it around. Or even a pastel pink or blue belt depending on your style and wedding theme.

Spring Weddings at the Lake of the Ozarks

If you haven't found you wedding venue for your spring wedding - we would love to show you our beautiful venue. Spring can be a bit finicky, so we have indoor and outdoor options to keep you at ease. You still have some time to book your wedding, but don't delay! Spring is a busy season here at our Missouri winery, so you'll need to act fast if you want to get your date on our calendar. We look forward to celebrating your special day with you!
